Tua Tagovailoa shares his thoughts on fellow former Alabama QB Bryce Young

The Carolina Panthers and Bryce Young’s rookie season probably could not have gone much worse as the team finished 2-15 and fired head coach Frank Reich after a putrid 1-10 start. To make matters worse, despite having the worst record in the league, the Panthers don’t have their first-round pick (No. 1 overall) as they traded it to the Chicago Bears a year ago to move up to select Young.

So heading into year two, Young will have a new coaching staff in place, no first-round picks for support and one of the worst active offensive rosters in football. In 2023, the Panthers didn’t have any running backs exceed the 1,000-yard mark and only one receiver had over 600 yards receiving – a 33-year old Adam Thielen. First-time head coach Dave Canales has a lot of hole’s to fill on the Panthers roster to fill, fortunately the defensive side is pretty well taken care of.

Despite the gaping holes in the roster, Young received a lot of the criticism for the teams efforts. However, people around the league seem to understand that the issues in Carolina run a lot deeper than what Young can control.

Fellow former Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa weighed in on Young’s situation saying, “I think he’s done a tremendous job with his team. I think what people end up doing is they put too much on him, when it’s a team sport. It takes everyone. So Bryce can’t do it alone. And at a young age, I know he’s already realized that because he’s continuing to play his game regardless of what the score looks like and he’s been balling. So I just tell him to, you know, stay encouraged and keep the faith.”

Tagovailoa is someone who has also faced his fair share of criticism in the league, so not many people understand what Young is feeling better than the Dolphins QB.
